I feel like I’m constantly searching for a satisfying feminist spy novel, and I have yet to find one.The Moroccan Girl by Charles Cumming was fun, but ultimately fell flat for me.
I wanted to love this. I really, really did. But it just fell flat.
The plot is relatively straightforward: four girls attend a sleepaway camp in the Pacific Northwest. They set out on an overnight kayaking trip, get separated from the counselor, and shit goes down.
Kinda fun if you're into Duchamp and/or thrillers, but not really worth it.
If you want to know what everyone is talking about, read this. If you don't care about the "zeitgeist" or one woman's idea of feminism, maybe skip.
Touch or technology? One trends forecaster, Sloane, seems to know the answer....
The premise of this novel is *right* up my ally: Jews, history, romance, a story spanning generations.... but it just fell a little flat
To me, the historical truth behind the story makes the novel all the more interesting and all the less fulfilling.
