Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: parts One and Two

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: parts One and Two

Eh. "The eighth story. Nineteen years later" was honestly not fulfilling. And don't get me wrong, I *adore* Harry Potter, so reading this new official entry into the canon (even though it is a play) was something I was so excited about. It was released yesterday, so I (obviously) got it and started reading it. And that's when my excitement dipped. Fast. The plot got all topsy turvy and delved way to into time travel in a way that wasn't enjoyable to read. And because it was in a play format, maybe it would've been better to see it on stage? I will probably not know... Anyway: reasons I didn't like this play mainly centered around relying on time travel, but also there were too many characters. I wanted to spend more time with Harry, Hermione, Ron & Ginny, not the next generation. Definitely a different flavor from the books themselves; and is it wrong to wish that maybe they're best left alone? I don't know!!! I think this would be different if 1) it was a novel 2) I saw the play. Short review, just some thoughts! Probably don't read this, but if you're really into Harry Potter, you probably already have! Rating: ★★

Ps. My original thoughts on harry potter here
