About

I started Burack's Bookshelf in 2010, over on blogger, and moved it over to squarespace (here!) in summer 2016. I do not write about every book I read, but I am working on it.

I am currently a writer. I work as an associate editor at 70 Faces Media, and I occasionally freelance. (More on emilyburack.com about me and my work.) You can read things I've written in Marie Claire, Teen Vogue, Bustle, and more here. You can read interviews I’ve done with authors from Colum McCann to Taffy Brodesser-Akner to Jodi Kantor in the “author interviews” section of this blog.

I do not have a favorite book. Maybe right now, when I am updating this “about me” page in May 2020, it's The Post Office Girl by Stefan Zweig or Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo or Reading Lolita in Tehran by Azir Nafisi or The Lady in Gold by Anne-Marie O'Connor... I could keep going. It’s too hard to choose! But, while on the subject of favorite books, I must note that I have always loved Which Witch? by Eva Ibbotson.
