I have nothing smart to say about Hood Feminism: Notes from the Women That a Movement Forgot, except that you should run and read this. If you are someone who calls themself a feminist, you must read this.

Hood Feminism basically outlines, clearly and concisely, where feminism has failed in the U.S. Feminism, Mikki Kendall argues, is wrapped up in poverty and food access and housing access and disability rights and gun control and all these issues many typically think of as separate from “feminist issues,” like reproductive justice or equal pay. Hood Feminism is about centering those on the margins, and it interweaves Mikki Kendall’s own personal history and life story.
